Dear Children, Parents and Carers,
We are very sad to have to tell you that we, Miss Dunscombe and Mr Tibbits, will be retiring and leaving Grestone at the end of this half-term.
We have both loved our time here and will miss you all very much.
Mr Tibbits says:
“I have only worked here for 3 years but I am very proud to have played a leading role in the process of making Grestone a much better school. I have also gained great fulfilment from a career of over 33 years during which I have taught thousands of children living in my beloved home city of Birmingham.
“Miss Dunscombe, on the other hand, has worked for more than 44 years for Birmingham schools and has given over 38 years’ service to Grestone (Junior, Primary and Academy). Her contribution to this community has been unselfish and immense. Many, many, many children, parents, families and staff will have their own special memories of the help they have been given by Miss Dunscombe over the decades. She has been simply one of the most caring teachers anyone could ever meet. It is often said that no-one is indispensable. But in Miss Dunscombe’s case, it really would be true to say she will be irreplaceable.”
We would like to invite family members who have had a long or special relationship with Miss Dunscombe to join us after school on Thursday 11th February (3:30 – 5 pm). This will be an opportunity for informal chats and fond farewells over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
We would both like to say a very sincere thank-you to all past and present members of the Grestone community for all your support, friendship and humour over the years. Most importantly we would like to thank all the pupils who have passed through our care. You have been simply wonderful!
With our very best wishes for the future,
Miss Dunscombe and Mr Tibbits
